During the summer of 2011 he was diagnosed with liver disease. He was in and out of the hospital all the time. Sometimes he even had to drive for a couple hours to get to the best hospital he could. But when school started, he still came as much as he could and tried his best not to get behind in his studies. When he came, the disease made his skin and eyes yellow, and his face swell. He got sideways glances and had to deal with rude whispers about him from those who didn’t know about his condition. Since he was diagnosed, he’s had a few surgeries and just the other week he FINALLY got his new liver. But there were complications, and he developed a virus that led to him developing a brain infection. His family isn’t exactly rich and the medical bills are crazy, and you can only imagine the emotional toll it’s taken on all of them. I know his little sister is completely distraught and it’s hard to keep the faith in times like this. My friend is such a strong guy and he is such a sweetheart.
